About Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura is the oldest of the Canary Islands as, over 20 million years ago, it was the first to rise up from the Atlantic Ocean. The island is 100 kilometres long and a mere 31 kilometres wide. It is the second-largest of the Canary Islands (after Tenerife) and lies only 100 kilometres from the African continent. It has a population of around 120,000 inhabitants and the official language is Spanish.
The island of Eternal Spring
Whether you fancy some winter sunshine or pleasantly warm temperatures in the summer, Fuerteventura is a great place to go. Also referred to as "the island of eternal spring", Fuerteventura gets around 3000 hours of sunshine a year with temperatures in the low twenties even in the middle of winter. It doesn't get too hot in the summer, with daytime temperatures averaging around 25 degrees Celcius.
Fuerteventura is also famous for its fantastic beaches - around 150 kilometres in total - perfect for walking, swimming, sunbathing, and watersports all year round. Many of these consist of fine, golden sand, while others feature the stunning, black sand that is typical for the Canary Islands and which stems from the erosion of volcanic rock. A lot of the island's beaches can be found in the south. Corralejo, in the north, is known for its beautiful sand dunes, the largest in the Canary Islands, which were declared a natural park in 1982.
Three foods you must try when you are in Fuerteventura
Papas Arrugadas con mojo - small "wrinkled" potatoes with a fine salt crust, served with the Canary Islands' signature sauce.
Majorero cheese - a firm cheese made from goat's milk and unique to the area.
Puchero Canario - a popular Canarian stew made with meat, vegetables and garbanzo beans.
"Have used Solhop a few times recently, each time the drivers have been friendly and punctual, will definitely be using them again."

We were 5 people (inc. 3 kids) traveling from the center of Madrid to the Madrid airport. Given we had an early morning flight back to the U.S., we booked this taxi transfer. Booking was easy. The driver was very professional, on time, and the vehicle was very comfortable. I am glad we chose this service for an easy transfer at the beginning of a long journey home.
